Agilent (HP) E1428A Replacement Solution
The ZTEC ZT1428 VXI is equivalent in form, fit and function to the Agilent E1428A. This includes total instrument compatibility such as signal I/O, feature set, data processing, command interface, connector location, etc. For example, in order to support a legacy CASS test requirement, the 30 MHz analog filter roll-off is identical because the CASS TPS measures a signal response within the filter stopband. In fact, some peculiarities of the E1428A had to be added to the ZT1428 to maintain backward compatibility. Consequently, the ZT1428 is very nearly identical to the E1428A. See below for a list of the few differences and new features that distinguish the ZT1428 from the E1428A. Note that the ZT1428 functionality exceeds that of the E1428A in almost all specifications. The ZT1428 has successfully been installed in place of the E1428A in existing ATE systems such as Viper/TETS, and in drop-in replacement applications at GE, EADS, Intel, Boeing, Tinker AFB, etc. In most cases, the additional ZT1428 capabilities such as deep memory and supplementary analog filtering remain unused. The replacement customer often does not desire any test modifications, even to use additional instrument functionality.
