Proven Success

ZTEC Instruments is an established supplier to major DoD ATS programs and contractors. Our instruments have a proven track record with long product life cycles in mission critical ATS. Many of our instruments are platform independent and can be integrated into almost any design and chassis. Available in: VXI, LXI, PXI & PCI platforms. ZTEC's instruments make use of a standardized library of functions, independent of the individual instrument. This forward looking design makes it easier to upgrade to a more modern instrument with little to no programming changes. When needed, ZTEC Instruments' Application Engineers provide invaluable support, integration and TPS transitioning.

Case Studies

eCASSProgram

ZTEC Instruments is proud to be involved twice in this NAVAIR program supporting two separate sub-sections of the NAVAIR Electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS) stations.The mission of eCASS was to carry forward 1,100 of the approximately 3,000 Test Program Sets (TPS's) while allowing for both new aircraft like the F-35 and "netcentricity."

ZTEC Instruments will be providing Lockheed Martin with the ZT4628 PXI modular oscilloscope. The ZT4628 was a natural fit as it's the follow-on to our successful ZT1428 thus providing full backward compatibility and future proofing NAVAIR's needs.

ZTEC Instruments will be providing Textron Systems AAI unit with the ZT8442 LXI modular IF/RF digitizer for the RF sub-section of eCASS. By modifying their initial system design with these instruments, AAI was able to replace three digitizers, reduce switching requirements, and significantly reduce cost and precious space required in the station. The on-board digital down converter (DDC) and filtering in the FPGA enable flexible-rate alias-free sampling and true 16-bit resolution for band limited signals rather than requiring sampling rate/resolution trade-offs like traditional digitizers.

F-15 ESTS Modernization

ZTEC Instruments is providing customized VXI oscilloscopes and waveform generators to SES in support of the USAF modernization of the F-15 ESTS test systems. SES is rehosting TPSs to new instruments in order to mitigate obsolescence issues in 62 test stations. In order to enable SES to deliver a "drop-in" replacement for the counter/timer instrument from the original ESTS test stations, ZTEC Instruments worked to understand the needs and developed a plan to customize the ZT4211 VXI oscilloscope firmware to add counter/timer functionality. ZTEC Instruments also customized the hardware front-end of the ZT5211 VXI arbitrary waveform generator to be compliant with ESTS TPSs.

EEST for Orion Space Capsule

Lockheed Martin and NASA have selected ZTEC Instruments to provide ZT4441-HV PXI high-voltage oscilloscopes with 14-bit resolution for monitoring current and voltage levels of the power system of the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle. The final test facility is planned to have thousands of channels to be monitored in total. In order to capture and fully characterize anomalies, Lockheed Martin needed instruments that can capture the full range of signals up to 200 VDC, yet sample up to 250 MS/s and deliver enough vertical resolution to observe the details of relatively tiny transient signals that could help pinpoint potential problems early in the design phase.

RTCASS Program

ZTEC Instruments has provided Teradyne Corporation with a unique hardware solution, the ZT1428, replacing the obsolete and out-of-date HP/Agilent E1428A oscilloscope series, thus allowing Teradyne to continue supporting the US Navy and Marine Corps.
